Or maybe you would just like to improve your handwriting. Either way, I offer private lessons--I charge $25 an hour and depending on how much and how fast you want to learn we can curtail the classes to meet your needs.
If you are looking for public classes, or something a little cheaper--then your best bet is the Calligraphic Society of Arizona:
http://www.calligraphicsocietyofarizona.org/
They charge a fee for each class unless you are a member (there is a membership fee of $25 per year) and they meet in the east valley. If you are interested, that would be a good organization to join because you can meet lots of other calligraphers.
I'm not sure what kinds of calligraphy styles they teach but I teach all kinds. They may only teach italic, or other standard types (I don't know for sure), but I teach pointed pen (spencerian, copperplate, etc) as well as all of the standard styles--it just depends on what you are interested in. That is the nice thing about private lessons, we can make the lessons fit your needs and be exactly what you are looking for.
Right now I am offering classes Mon, Tues, Thur in the evenings at 5pm or 7:30pm and Saturdays will be
available starting May 10th.
You will also need to buy your materials--although you may already have some (pen, ink, lined paper, and work book)--but luckily calligraphy is not a very expensive hobby and I know where to get all the good prices and student/teacher
discounts :)
